In President Obama’s (it is nice to finally be able to say that) inauguration speech, he reminded us of the problems of our energy dependence. In his words “…each day brings further evidence that the ways we use energy strengthen our adversaries and threaten our planet.” While contemplating Obama’s speech, I remembered hearing about a billion dollar LNG (liquified natural gas) plant that was complete in Baja California, Mexico.
This plant was built by Sempra, and imports the LNG from Indonesia. T Boone Pickens is telling us that by using natural gas, we will reduce our dependance on foreign energy. However, billion dollar natural gas importing facilities are popping up, and they expect to see a rise in natural gas demand to pay for their shiny new endeavor.
More than every, we need to keep those dollar here in the U.S. Instead of sending them overseas, we can buy boost our own economy by investing in solar and other renewable energy sources that create jobs, and saves folks money at the same time.
