Every year the California Center for Sustainable Energy holds an awards ceremony known as the SANDEE Awards. SANDEE stands for San Diego Excellence in Energy, and awards are given to organizations and individuals for their efforts to contribute to a more sustainable world.
Adroit Solar contributed four systems between two projects which won top honors at the SANDEE Awards.
Special Achievement in Energy by a Homeowner
Tom & Judy Myers, Alpine, CA
“This project is a whole house integration of passive and active solar strategies with energy conserving systems resulting in a zero net energy home. We accomplished this by constructing a thermally efficient building shell, incorporating passive solar strategies, installing a high efficiency HVAC system, selecting energy star appliances, installing a solar hot water system and a grid-tied PV system to generate clean energy. Perhaps the most innovative feature, however, is our ground source heat transfer wells which, in combination with a heat pump, provide heating and cooling through a hydronic floor system. ” – Tom Myers
Adroit Solar designed and installed the ground source geothermal heating and cooling system, hydronic radiant heating system, and solar hot water system at the Myers residence.
